Central Coast New Tech High

New Tech is an instructional approach involving project-based learning, where learning is contextual, creative, and shared. With support from Pacific Gas & Electric, Central Coast New Tech High (CCNTH) opened its doors in August 2012 with a freshman class of approximately 120 students. CCNTH added another class of freshmen in 2013, and will continue to do so each year for an eventual total of 500+ students. CCNTH is part of the Lucia Mar Unified School District, open to all students. Real world skills such as critical thinking, communication, engineering and technology are emphasized. By making learning relevant and providing real-world applications of learning, student engagement is enhanced and learning is better retained. CCNTH are already sharing their teaching best practices with other schools in the district.
